The first of the three meetings in 2012 of ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) is to be held in San Jose, Costa Rica  on the 11th to 16th of March, 2012.

ICANN is a not-for-profit public-benefit corporation that has the responsibility of coordinating Internet names and numbers so that the web will continue to be stable, secure, and interoperable.

Each year, ICANN launches three separate meetings. For 2012, the first meeting will be held in Costa Rica (March 11-16); the second one in Prague, Czech Republic (June 24-29); and the last in Toronto, Canada (October 14-19).

The whole ICANN community is very much excited for these international public meetings.

ICANN Meeting #43 in Costa Rica

Costa Rica is said to be the greenest country in the world. It boasts of a rich wildlife, biodiversity, and culture. Located in Central America, Costa Rica is one of the most-visited tourist spots in the world.

The 43rd ICANN Meeting will take place in one of Costa Rica’s luxury places – the Ramada Plaza Herradura Golf Resort and Conference Center.

The host for this event is the National Academy of Sciences – NIC Costa Rica. Pertinent matters and issues in relation to the role of ICANN will be discussed.

About 1,200 – 1,500 Internet authorities and specialists across more than 100 countries are expected to attend.

The third annual meeting of ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) for 2011 is to be held in Africa October 24-28, 2011. The whole ICANN community is very much excited for this international public meeting.

The host for this event is the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies of Senegal. The Senegal government is giving its full-support for this event by ensuring the safety and security of the attendees.

Pertinent matters and issues in relation to the role of ICANN as a regulator of the domain space will be discussed.

This coming February 13 – 14, 2012 the 9th Domain Pulse is to be held at Hamburg, Germany. This event, organized by DENIC, Switch and Nic.at is an annual domain industry gathering for all German-speaking countries.

Overview and Objectives

The Pacific Network Operators Group or PacNOG will hold its 9th Educational Workshop and Training for six days (from June 27 to July 2) at the University of the South Pacific in Suva, Fiji. The main objective of this conference-workshop is geared towards the continuation of the capacity development program for IP-ISP network operators from the Pacific Islands.

In addition, PacNOG’s workshop will provide the necessary training and hands-on sessions for the operators. At the same time, the conference will provide a beyond-the-classroom discussion regarding relevant operational issues.

Host

The event will be hosted by PITA (Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association). The venue and facilities were offered by the University of the South Pacific, in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency Regional ICT Centre.

Registration:

Online registration is available. Attendees should sign an application  form (download here) and it will be subject for approval as based on some pre-requisites such as: a minimum background, knowledge, and expertise about IP-ISP.
